Introductions: Rob
Well I guess I should do an actual introduction post for myself since I haven’t yet;
First though if you have not done so already please take a moment to read our fair warning post.
I think the reason I haven't written this post yet is that I am, by nature (and nurture), a private person; I share who I am with the people I know, love, and trust and not so much with those not in that circle.
I sometimes like to joke that “it is only paranoia when they aren’t out to get you, otherwise it is just common sense”. So in my case it is definitely, in some aspects, a result of trauma and in some simply good practice for someone who doesn’t fit comfortably into any of life's little boxes; especially at this time in this place.
If you are here and reading you probably already know that I am poly*.*
I say poly*.* because I am a practising polytheist, with a particular devotion to a patron deity who I usually refer to as “my Boss”, and work with and acknowledge the existence, importance and worship of multiple deities. I will use the label pagan or witch, but that is more to help others with categorising me for their boxes than the way I see myself.
I am also polyamorous, polysexual and polyplatonic meaning I have multiple relationships with people that range from the more societally traditional romantic ones to purely sexual through to to platonic life partners who I share my life with, and who share their life with me, in ways that most people might assume must have a romantic or sexual component but does not.
In the wider pagan community I am known (politely) as Amabran; folks from that community might know me from classes and events I have taught at or the community service I do with the Renewal Coven, which is my privilege to teach.
That said on this substack when I post it will be as Rob, speaking about my experiences and my personal beliefs as informed by my experiences and training, not as, if you’ll excuse the formality of it:
“Lord Amabran ap Dana of Firefly circle, SwordBearer to Serenity Circle, High Priest of Renewal Coven, Third degree and Elder of the Path of Light, Priest of An’Morrígan, guide to a moment in Cha”
That is a long and overly formal way of saying that I will be speaking just for me, not the tradition, coven or deities that I serve, and the things I share, or don’t, here shouldn’t been seen as anything more than my own informed UPG and opinions.
If you are reading this substack you probably have some idea about House Wayreth, and probably a lot of misconceptions; hopefully as we post here folks will learn more about us.
Possibly the most important thing to know is that House Wayreth is not Renewal Coven or vice versa.
There is certainly some overlap but House Wayreth began as my dream long before I found Path (or it found me as the case may be) but now it is something more than that, and that is a whole series of posts on its own I think. Nix has already shared a post from their point of view and experience and hopefully others will do likewise in the future, myself included.
In the simplest of terms we are an intentional community informed by the practices and mindsets of pre-Christian Irish clan life with a shared view of the way we wish to live and shared beliefs on what we see as the right way to live with others; even if that is not quite what society is currently geared towards.
Here, in our shared communal home that we call 3 Oaks, I am co-parent to some amazing kids, the person most likely to deal with obscure paperwork and one of the primary logistics and planning people. I also serve, with a bunch of processes and such in place for fairness, checks and balances, as arbiter and mediator to help when folks miscommunicate or are otherwise unaware of the full impact of their choices on other members of the house.
So that is, in some very small portion, me; or at least as much as I care to share here at this time.
